Do you need a TV Licence?
A TV Licence lets you enjoy a huge range of TV. You need a licence to:
- Watch or record any live TV, not just the BBC
- Watch or record live TV on any pay TV service. Like Sky, Virgin Media or EE TV
- Watch live TV on streaming services. Like Netflix, YouTube, Channel 4 or Amazon Prime Video
- Be covered for everything on BBC iPlayer
This includes recording or downloading on any device. For instance, you need a licence if you use your phone to catch up on BBC iPlayer. Or, if you stream a live YouTube TV channel on your game console. Or, if you watch Sky Sports live on your tablet or laptop.
